What were you thinking when you said, "I would like to contribute to the Aprender y Crecer program" in 2018?
"I was thinking of the excited faces of the children every time they joyfully visited us every week of the campaign, of each one of the children who shared their experiences with us and who, with their words and particular life situations, brought tears to our eyes. I thought of the joy on their faces when we handed them their supplies and books!" - Rebeca Peña, Membership Manager, PriceSmart
"When I donated, I was thinking about the development of education in my country and the joy my students feel when they receive the resources. The program has significantly changed the lives of my students and their families as they have seen in it a hope to move forward, recognizing that reading is a fundamental pillar of the human being necessary in any trade or profession." - Sayury Milena Tovar Rodríguez, 3rd grade teacher
How has the Aprender y Crecer program changed your life or the lives of your students?
"This program is a support for the entire educational community: it provides the opportunity to improve reading skills, involve parents in their children's learning process, and maintain cleaner and more pleasant spaces for our students. The program has not only changed my life, but the lives of all my fellow teachers. We have become a team, a single force capable of promoting processes and creating strategies for the benefit of our students. It has been a work of all and for all which reaffirms once again why we chose to be educators." - Shirley del Carmen Ortega Peralta, 4th grade teacher
"The program changed my life with reading. I didn't know how to read when the I didn't know how to read when the program started at my school. Without the program, I don't know if I would have learned to read. Thanks to my books, I now love to read, and I am proud to be a good reader." - Hector Medina, 6th grade student
Why is education important?
"I believe education is the backbone of a country because due to good education, jobs are created, eliminating hunger; it improves the health of citizens-by learning, citizens live healthier lives and know when to seek medical care; and it reduces crime, by generating jobs. I support Aprender y Crecer because the program actively works to improve education." - Pablo José Valle Molina, Cashier's Area Manager, PriceSmart
"Education is a basic human right, to which everyone should have access regardless of race, gender or economic status. Education is development, and it should not be a dream. Education is the most powerful weapon to be able to change people, it enriches our values and culture." - Elizabeth Azucena Huertas Carrillo de Yoc, Assistant Front End Manager, PriceSmart
